Clean Water Access for Rural Rwanda
Providing sustainable water solutions to communities in need through locally-led, globally-supported infrastructure projects.
The Water Crisis in Rwanda
Despite Rwanda's remarkable development progress, access to clean water remains a challenge for rural communities. Approximately 35% of rural residents lack access to improved water sources, leading to preventable waterborne diseases and economic hardship.
Women and children often spend hours each day collecting water, preventing them from attending school or generating income. Additionally, inadequate water infrastructure affects agricultural productivity and food security.
SHYAKA works directly with communities to develop sustainable, locally-maintained water systems that provide long-term access to clean water, improving health outcomes and creating economic opportunities.
